RV Type: Hybrids

Hybrid travel trailers (or Expandables) combine some of the convenience of regular travel trailers with some of the roominess and 'campy' feelings of pop up tent trailers.

They look very much like small travel trailers until setup in the campground. Then you notice a canvas projection on one or both ends - just like on a tent trailer. There are beds in the projecting tent ends, giving the trailer additional sleeping space without adding significantly to its weight.

They come in a range of lengths, from 15 feet to over 30 feet, and will thereby contain more or less 'living' space, or contained space in the body of the trailer. Prices can range from $7,000 to $30,000.

An obvious advantage to the light-weigth characteristic of having canvas sleeping areas is that, much like a tent trailer, the shorter hybrids can be towed by some cars, minivans or small SUVs.
