Types of RVs

Before you buy or rent a recreational vehicle (RV) you need to have a basic understanding of how RVs are categorized.

There are many different styles to choose from and once you decide how you are going to tow your RV and what your budget will be, your decision becomes a bit easier.

RVs generally fall under two categories: trailers, or recreational vehicles that you tow, and motorized recreational vehicles that don't require a tow vehicle, but rather have the coach built right in.

"Tow vehicle built right in" you say? Great! Maybe so, but a motorhome will be more expensive. Trailers are usually far more economical, particlarly as they get smaller and contain less amenities.

In order of lower prices to higher there are tent trailers, truck campers, hybrid trailers, travel trailers, toy haulers, fifth wheels and park models.

Then, with higher price tags come the motorhomes, starting with the Class B, followed by the Class C and then the Class A. A more detailed description of each can be seen below...
