RVing from 1901 to 1910

In the beginning of the 20th century, campers added tents, beds, small kitchens, sometimes even flush toilets and wash basins with hot and cold running water to their family cars.

Cars had large running boards on which campers installed a box that opened into a kitchen or a fold-up cot. The rear seats folded out to become beds. Some pulled a small wooden trailer carrying camping equipment.

Cleary as people embarked on their love affair with vehicles and travelling the roadways of North America, they discovered a need to invent ways to bring the comforts of home along with them.
